ASHLEY SUE BRADFORD 3RD ANNUAL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP MOTORCYCLE RUN

Category: MOTORCYCLE RIDE
Hello My name is Grammie Sue,
That name was given to me 21 years ago by my precious grand daughter Ashley Sue Bradford. She was killed in an auto accident the day before Thanksgiving 2004 at the age of 17 along with her best friend Amy Martin.
My daughter and her husband have tried to turn something tragic into something positive by doing an annual motorcycle ride each year on Ashley's Birthday of August 8th, Next ride Aug,8th 2009.
This years ride was a great success with approximately 50 motorcycles and a string of cars to boot! Coming from a family of motor cycle enthusiasts,(we have it in our blood) the hair on my arms stood up when I heard the roar of 50 motorcycles all there to commemorate her passing and celebrate her life in a positive way. If you keep an eye on My space under The Hat Chicks Nest, information will be added as next years ride gets closer.
All moneys raised are going to a Scholarship to help further a young persons education in her name. We invite ALL who wish to attend and donate to this worthy cause.
This year we rode From Dawsonvillle Ga. to Dahlonega Ga. Home of the first gold rush. I followed in the rear of this huge "PACK" in my decorated car. Next year I am taking a helmet and putting my 61 yr. old butt on the first empty back seat of a Harley I can find. Fair warning to all riders with an empty seat! Hehe.It was thrilling for me to watch the pack take over the streets.I felt Ashley's presence the whole day as I am sure she attended. We began the ride by going to the place were Ashley is laid to rest. A huge circle of participants bowed their heads to pray as Scott (my eldest son, member of A.R.M.) lead in prayer. It was so moving and so appreciated by her loved ones.We then headed out to have some fun. When we had finished our ride we came back to Rock Creek Park in Dawsonville Ga.and each rider received a memorial T shirt and a meal to fill their hungry bellies..We also had a 50/50 raffle and great fellowship. Many lifestyles and peoples were represented that day. It was a wonderful coming together.Next year will be much BIGGER and BETTER (especially the food) as we are gathering sponsors like "Lorainas Restaurant and Lounge"in Dawsonville Ga.We are planning to have some really nice prizes to raffle next year.We will also be having a poker run and lots of fun games to participate in.A car show is also in the mix and also a feature in Full Throttle Magazine. So keep an eye out.
I would like to thank ALL those who participated in this ride and all those who were of great influence.
There is a beautiful site on U Tube Memorializing her. Just put Ashley Sue Bradford in you browser and look for the U Tube by Clay. God bless you Clay. It has been four years and this is the first time I have been able to let my self watch it. It is so beautiful and so well done. See you next year. Be there or be square!!!! (old 70s saying) Love to all from Grammie Sue.
